Welcome to Childbase International

Providing Early Years staff training and quality assurance globally

About us

In 1989, Childbase Partnership opened it’s first nursery and currently operates 44 nurseries across the United Kingdom including prestigious workplace nurseries for Cambridge and Winchester University, providing childcare and education for Academics. Regardless of where a nursery is located; every member of staff receives a consistent training programme to further enhance their academic achievements in the Early Years. This is further supported through our Childbase Academy of Excellence where we offer Level 2,3 and 5 qualifications.

Our training programme and the method in which we mentor, and train staff, sets us apart from the sector and underpins our quality outcomes.

Childbase outperforms other nursery providers in the sector in terms of quality, as verified independently by The Office for Standards in Education, Childrens Services and Skills (Ofsted), a non-ministerial department of the UK government.

57% of Childbase nurseries are graded outstanding and 43% graded good against the sector average of 16% outstanding. Childbase also maintains a higher level of occupancy compared to other nursery providers in the UK sector.

In 2017 Childbase Partnership moved to employee ownership ensuring all colleagues benefit from the commercial success and are invested in the long-term future of the company. As a result, it has created a climate that actively encourages innovation which continues to impact quality.
Childbase Partnership has proved that consistent, high quality Early Years provision is rooted in employee well-being, happiness and engagement.

Without doubt, our nursery buildings and environments are ‘state of the art’ and our investment in enabling our environments demonstrates our commitment to quality.

A nursery environment is seen as the third educator behind parent/carers and the Nursery Practitioner. It plays a key role in supporting and extending children’s learning and development.

Curriculum

Every child deserves the best possible start in life to enable them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experience between birth and five years old has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high-quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow. The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) promotes teaching and learning to ensure children’s ‘school readiness’ and gives children a broad range of knowledge and skills that provide the right foundation for good future progress through school and life.

The overarching principles shapes practice in all our nurseries:

Childbase Partnership has a bespoke curriculum that is ‘paperless planning’. It encourages Nursery Practitioners to identify the individual ‘interests’ of every child and mind map ideas for continuous provision enhancements inspired by this interest. The second step in the system is identifying each child’s most pertinent need in their learning and development – their next developmental milestone. These are taken directly from our Curriculum Developmental Milestone documents based on age. It links with EYFS to enable best outcomes for children.

Quality

Our International Team has over 30 years of Early Years’ experience in delivering childcare and education and providing Early Years Practitioner training from Apprentice to degree level.

All members of the Quality and Training Team have Early Years Qualifications. The Quality and Training Director, who used to be an Early Years Advisor and Ofsted Inspector, leads the team and ensures Continuous Professional Development throughout the team is full and relevant in order to ensure quality is at the highest standard. This enables them to fully audit nurseries against set benchmarks.

Our vision “To teach children to reach outstanding outcomes”

To achieve our vision, we have a bespoke approach to quality including a tailored training plan and Quality Assurance system.

Partnership with Parents

We celebrate the role of the parent/carer as the child’s first and most important Educators. We know that when parents/carers and Nursery Practitioners work together, the results have a positive impact on the child’s learning and development. To achieve outstanding partnerships with parents/carers, it is imperative that trust and confidence is built with parents/carers from the start and that their views are listened to and respected.

Detailed information is required from parents/carers on children’s likes, dislikes, development, and routine which ensures a consistent approach to care, learning and development, meaning new children are settled swiftly into the nursery. The importance of consistency between home and nursery is recognised as a key method to improve outcomes for children.

Compliance and Development

We ensure compliance and development through our:
• Policies (to include ratios)
• Recruitment
• Audits and support
• Training
• Quality Development Plans (QDP)

Robust policies are in place to ensure that expectations are clear for all staff on what aspects of practice and provision are essential at all times. This takes into account local, statutory and advisory guidance.

Policies are accompanied by appendices which provide consistent proformas detailing tasks staff are required to complete to ensure a consistent approach to compliance.

Our policies balance the need for robust and compliant systems while trying to limit the amount of paperwork to complete to only what is essential. The Nursery Practitioners time is valuable and better spent directly with the children to focus upon their well-being, learning and development.

Academy of Excellence

Established in 2021 our Training Academy of Excellence was created to provide a centre for all Apprentices to be supported in house by Childbase Partnership experts. We have recently been approved to deliver Apprenticeships in Early Years nationally and are accredited to deliver qualifications
internationally. The Academy Team have extensive knowledge of supporting Apprentices within Early Years, provide face to face training, conduct in person observations and support all Apprentices in achieving their qualification.

We currently support our Apprentices within all Childbase Partnership nurseries. We offer Apprenticeships at Levels 2 and 3 in Early Years alongside functional skills support, if required. Childbase Partnership’s bespoke curriculum ‘Teach to Reach’ forms part of the course for the Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Additional Apprenticeships are also offered for Team Leader Supervisor (level 3) and Early Years Lead Practitioner (level 5).
